JPG to WebP re-encodes standard JPEG photos into WebP, the image format Google introduced in 2010 specifically to shrink web page weight without a visible drop in quality. WebP uses a more modern predictive compression scheme (derived from the VP8 video codec) that generally squeezes 25-35% more size out of a photo than JPEG at a visually comparable quality level — for a website serving thousands of product photos or blog images, that difference adds up to real bandwidth savings and faster page loads, which is also a direct input into Google's Core Web Vitals scoring and, by extension, search ranking.
WebP supports both lossy and lossless compression plus an alpha transparency channel, so it can effectively replace JPEG and PNG with a single format depending on the quality setting chosen. For a photographic image being converted from JPEG, lossy WebP at a moderate-to-high quality setting is the relevant mode — the encoder analyzes the image and re-compresses it more efficiently than JPEG's three-decade-old DCT-based algorithm manages, at a comparable or better visual result. The quality slider works the same conceptual way JPEG's does: lower values produce smaller files with more visible compression artifacts, higher values produce larger files that look closer to the source.
Browser support, once WebP's biggest limitation, is no longer a practical concern — every major browser released since 2020 (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari from version 14 onward) decodes WebP natively, and most CMS platforms and CDNs now serve it by default or offer it as an automatic option. The remaining reasons to think twice before converting are narrower: an old email client rendering an image inline, a print workflow that expects JPEG or PNG, or software with a hard WebP compatibility gap. For anything destined for a modern website, WebP is now the more efficient default rather than the exception.
Drop your JPG files and set a quality level using the slider (default 85%, adjustable from 40–100%). Each image is drawn onto an HTML canvas and re-encoded as WebP using the browser's built-in image encoder — the same underlying technology a browser uses to decode any image on the web — entirely on your device with no server round-trip. A single converted image downloads directly; multiple files are bundled together into one ZIP archive.
Upload JPG images
Drop one or more JPEG files onto the upload zone. All conversion happens in your browser.
Set quality
Adjust the WebP quality slider. WebP at 80% quality is typically 25–35% smaller than the equivalent JPEG.
Convert
Click "Convert to WebP". Each JPEG is converted to WebP format using the browser's built-in encoding capabilities.
Download
Save the WebP files individually or download them all in a ZIP archive.
Use in web projects
WebP is supported by all modern browsers and reduces page load times compared to JPG or PNG.
Web Performance
Swap out heavy JPEG hero images for WebP to cut page weight and improve Core Web Vitals scores.
E-Commerce Listings
Convert product photos to WebP so shop pages load faster and bounce rates drop.
Mobile Optimization
Serve smaller WebP files to mobile visitors who are on limited data plans.

100% Private
All conversion happens in your browser — your photos are never sent to any server.
25–35% Smaller Files
WebP consistently outcompresses JPEG at the same visual quality, saving real bandwidth.
Adjustable Quality
Fine-tune the quality slider from 40 to 100 so you control the exact size-vs-quality trade-off.
Batch Conversion
Drop dozens of JPGs at once and download them all in a single ZIP with one click.
