What is Resize & Crop Image?

Resize & Crop Image changes an image's pixel dimensions or cuts out a specific region, without the stretching, squashing, or awkward re-cropping that happens when you resize carelessly in a generic photo app. You can work in exact pixels, as a percentage of the original, or by dragging a visual crop box directly over the photo — whichever matches the problem you actually have. Aspect ratio lock is on by default, so typing a new width automatically recalculates the height to match the original proportions instead of distorting faces, logos, or straight lines.

The crop tool renders a fully interactive box on top of your image: drag it to reposition, grab any of the eight handles to resize from a corner or an edge, or skip the dragging entirely and use a position preset (Center, Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right) or type exact X/Y pixel offsets. A rule-of-thirds grid overlays the crop box while you work, which is the same compositional guide photographers and designers use to decide where the subject should sit in the frame rather than dead-center by default.

Everything happens in HTML Canvas inside your browser tab — there is no upload step, no processing queue, and no server round-trip. That matters for two practical reasons: it is instant even on a slow connection, and it keeps personal or work-in-progress images (screenshots with sensitive text, unreleased product photos, ID scans) off third-party infrastructure entirely. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP, and you can convert the output format independently of the input — resize a PNG and export it as a compressed JPEG, for instance, or upscale a JPEG and keep it lossless as PNG.

How It Works

Upload one or more images, then pick one of three modes. "Resize (px)" sets an exact target width and height, with the aspect-ratio lock recalculating the other dimension automatically whenever you edit one field. "Resize (%)" scales everything relative to the original size — 50% halves both dimensions, 200% doubles them — which is the fastest way to shrink a batch of photos by a consistent amount without doing pixel math. "Crop" shows a draggable, resizable box over a live preview of the image; the result panel below it updates in real time so you always see the exact pixels that will end up in the final file before you commit. Once the settings look right, choose an output format (or keep the original) and, for JPG or WebP, a quality percentage, then click the action button. For a single image the file downloads immediately; for multiple images, everything is packaged into one ZIP.

How to Use

  1. 1

    Upload your image or images

Drag and drop files onto the upload area, or click to browse. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP are all supported, and you can queue up several files for batch processing in one pass.

  2. 2

Pick Resize (px), Resize (%), or Crop

Use pixel resizing when a destination requires an exact size (a banner spec, a form field), percentage resizing to scale everything proportionally, or Crop when you need to remove part of the frame rather than shrink the whole thing.

  3. 3

    Set your target values

For resizing, type a width or height — the locked aspect ratio fills in the other automatically. For cropping, either drag the box on the live preview, click a position preset, or type exact width, height, and X/Y offset values.

  4. 4

    Check the live preview

The preview canvas shows precisely what will be exported, including the final pixel dimensions printed above it, so there are no surprises after download.

  5. 5

Choose an output format and quality

Keep the original format, or convert to JPG, PNG, or WebP. For JPG and WebP, the quality slider trades file size against visual fidelity — lower it for web thumbnails, raise it for anything that will be printed or zoomed into.

  6. 6

    Download your result

A single image downloads directly; multiple images are bundled into a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded at any point — the whole operation runs in this browser tab.

Who Uses This Tool

🌐

Web Development

Match the exact pixel dimensions a template, hero banner, or ad unit calls for, and shrink oversized source photos so pages load faster without visibly losing quality.

📱

Social Media Posting

Hit the specific aspect ratios each platform expects — square posts, vertical stories, wide cover photos — instead of letting the platform auto-crop your image in a way you did not choose.

🖨️

Print Preparation

Work out the pixel dimensions a print shop needs at 300 DPI for flyers, posters, and business cards, and crop to the exact bleed area before sending the file off.

📧

Email & File Size Limits

Bring a multi-megabyte camera photo down to a size that clears an email attachment cap or a form upload limit, without manually recalculating dimensions.

🎨

Design & Content Creation

Pull one clean rectangular region out of a larger photo — a background plate, a texture, an isolated subject — for use as a standalone asset in another project.

🛒

E-Commerce Listings

Standardize product photography to the square or rectangular format required by Shopify, Amazon, or Etsy so a storefront grid looks consistent instead of mismatched.

Why Choose This Tool

Drag-to-Crop With a Live Result Preview

The crop box is genuinely interactive — drag it, resize it from any handle, and watch a second canvas show exactly what the exported crop will look like before you download anything.

Aspect Ratio Lock Prevents Accidental Distortion

Typing a new width recalculates height automatically by default, so photos of people, logos, and straight architectural lines do not come out looking stretched or squashed.

Three Resize Modes in One Tool

Exact pixels for spec-driven work, percentage scaling for quick proportional shrinking, and drag-based cropping for removing unwanted parts of the frame — you are not stuck picking one workflow.

Nothing Leaves Your Browser

Resizing and cropping run on HTML Canvas locally. There is no upload step, so screenshots, ID photos, or unreleased product shots never touch a server.

Format Conversion on the Way Out

Resize and change format in the same step — shrink a PNG and export as a smaller JPEG, or keep a JPEG lossless by converting it to PNG.

Batch Support

Queue multiple images and apply identical resize or crop settings across all of them, then download the whole batch as a single ZIP file instead of repeating the process one image at a time.
